Should the Avant 705 be called the sports car of the sea?

High-performance vehicles evoke a unique set of emotions in us. If you have ever pushed a sports car to its limit, you know the surge of endorphins that fills your body once you hear the dignified roar of the engine and the feeling of control you get when stepping on the gas pedal in the apex of a corner. When it came time to design our top-line of bowriders, we were inspired to bring the sensation of a sophisticated sports car to the sea. This ambition resulted in the birth of the Avant-series. And in today's article, we'll take a closer look at the thrilling 7-meter Avant 705 and see how it matches up with its counterparts on the road.

What defines a sophisticated sports car?

For us, a sports car is all about performance. It's designed to deliver a dynamic and exhilarating driving experience—fast acceleration, precise handling and a top speed that makes your heart race. To achieve this in the Avant 705, we designed a sharp 23-degree V-shaped hull that would carve through the water like a surgeon's scalpel. For power, we chose a lineup of engines from Mercury that provides a nice surge of energy once you hit the throttle and a top speed which never fails to give a youthful smile to your face.

Sports cars also tend to be compact and lightweight. This nimbleness contributes to their agility on the road, making them responsive even in high-speed situations. For this reason, we chose a relatively light construction for the boat, which, together with the sharp hull, maximises the powerful effect of the engine. And, of course, you can't talk about sophisticated sports cars without mentioning the sleek and eye-catching design that they are known for. In the Avant 705, we chose a low aerodynamic profile shaped carefully to enhance both style and performance. With minimalistic, sleek lines, you get a boat with a James Bond-like essence, both charming and irresistible.

The sharp hull cuts through waves like a warm knife in butter.

Bringing the sports car to the sea

The work on the Avant 705 resulted in a vessel representing breathtaking power and mesmerising elegance. You can comfortably cruise at low speeds if you are in the mood for a leisurely afternoon exploration. Still, once you hit the throttle, the whole boat responds immediately. Before you know it, a revitalising sea breeze whispers through your hair as you soar across the waves. It alters the sea into a boundless racetrack, thrusting you into a realm where the ocean and sky blur into a continuum of exhilarating speed and joy. At this moment, the Avant 705 transforms from a vessel into an expression of freedom, unhindered by roads or tracks, unleashed into the boundless blue.

No dull days allowed at sea in the Avant 705.

Aesthetic from every angle

The Avant 705 doesn't scream for attention; it captures your gaze, holding it with a timeless charm and tasteful colours, inviting you to bask in an elegant design intertwined with high-quality materials and an exclusive feel. The aesthetic appeal of the vessel is a mix of classic lines and modern, sophisticated solutions. Every detail is carefully conceived to make each voyage a moment of luxury.

A distinct difference

While the Avant 705 brings sports car-like driving characteristics to sea, the rich social areas aboard clearly separate the two entities. This vessel is not a luxurious two-seater but rather an elegant social companion for your whole family. Beyond the performance and agility, what surprises people most about the Avant 705 is the fluidity of movement you experience aboard the boat. The driving console and the bow's seating area are on the starboard side, leaving a seamless walk path on the port side, providing ease of access for all passengers. You can quickly transform the bow and aft seating areas to your desires: Both quickly change into comfortable sun loungers at will, and you can remove the sturdy yet lightweight table in the aft for a more spacious feel.

More than meets the eye

We can't talk about the Avant 705 without mentioning the ample storage areas and amenities, which are impressive for a nimble 7-meter boat. You have plenty of storage for your things underneath the seats and in the centre console, which also has a toilet. The roomy deck is easy to keep clean and organised thanks to designated storage compartments for ropes, anchors and fenders. As a Nordkapp signature, you also have a refrigerator underneath the passenger seat to keep your food and drinks nice and fresh on warm summer days.

The same essence

In many ways, this vessel bridges the gap between the paved road and the open sea. Sure, you replace the smell of burnt rubber tires in a Porsche 911 with aromas of fresh salt water aboard the Avant 705. But both represent the same essence. They manage to hit the exact nerve in us which evokes a sense of freedom, thrill and adventure that can only be found in high-performance vehicles like these.

If a sports car could be a boat, it sure would like to be an Avant 705.
